postpartum therapy

When pause, pain, or a deep knowing for change

calls us forward...

The most radical thing we can do is listen.

What is Radical Therapy?

02

'Radical'

takes inspiration from the edible root,

The

Radish

Which in latin means,

‘To get to the root of’

a matter or subject.

Our Values

  • Compassion

We believe in accessibility to safe and affirming spaces to cultivate love, acceptance, belonging, and connection.

  • Wisdom

We believe in honoring the wisdom of our bodies, our minds, our lived experiences, and those who have come before us.

  • Abundance

We believe in the ecological nature of the human experience; that we are enough and our growth is expansive.

  • Empowerment

We believe in the right to freedom, autonomy, and self-determination, for all bodies, identities, and communities.

Melina Tovar, LMFTA

Holistic Sex + Postpartum Therapist

Melina Tovar with dark wavy hair in a white top standing near a tree with white blossoms.

My approach to therapy is grounded in the belief that we are all deserving of a life filled with our own peace, pleasure, and prosperity.

I encourage a therapeutic space that invites our most human selves forward; cultivating a relationship that honors your values, features your strengths, and supports you as you pursue your greatest goals and aspirations.

Each session is a generous balance of honesty, humility, challenge, and compassion. My client-centered approach is commonly accompanied by interventions that are consent-focused and trauma-informed.

Common frameworks in my work include:

  • Attachment Therapy

  • Narrative therapy

  • Internal Family Systems

  • Acceptance & Commitment Therapy

  • The Developmental Model for Couples Therapy

Above all, I strive to arrive in every session with authenticity and curiosity, creating a therapeutic experience that centers you and your goals, your learning style, and your innate wisdom.

Human things that inform my work

As a queer femme from the Pacific Northwest, I have been a part of the sexual health and LGBTQA+ communities for decades. Originally advocating for trans youth in family medicine and veterans in public health research, some of the greatest sources of knowledge and inspiration for my practice have come from my time dedicated to community advocacy and own lived experiences.

Beyond my work as a therapist, I am passionate about all things art, movement, and history. I enjoy film scores and historical epics, moody jazz and morning coffee, sci-fi and cartography, video games and adventures local and afar with my partner and our dog.
